I Got The Lottie!
I was sure Val had said to meet at 10:30. I aimed to be early, only a bit I thought, but what with putting my boots on and waiting for Jay whose phone rang at the last minute (and who then decided not to come) I left with seconds to spare.
Bottom of the road where the lottie gates are is, quite unbeknown to me, all double yellow., Oh no, thinks I, late, gotta park, I'll get a ticket, got to risk it. Hang on a minute, there are some cars on site. Lady, yellow jacket clipboard, cold looking punters and cars. Hurrah I can park, Bonus!
I parked up. Got out. Realised I hadn't got nearly enough layers on. Pulled my gloves on. Stood there working hard at not shivering and listening at the same time.
Two couples and I stood there whilst Val, a lovely lady from the Council gave us the low down as fast as she could without it seeming like she was rushing before we froze. Her phone rang, I took advantage of the 30 second interlude to grab my dog walking coat from the car. Yeah, that's right my once pride and joy now relegated to dog walking, fake fur coat. Warmest thing I own but fairly impractical, especially in the looking appropriately dressed on the allotment site department. Still too cold to care, no-one mentioned it, I moved on with as much aplomb as I could muster
My new lottie neighbor asked how big the plots were and unsurprisingly we were all in agreement that none of us had no idea how big a plot was. Not a problem though, a quick walk round and we got the idea of the size and got to choose which plots suited us. Mine is 7.5 rods. Not sure how big that actually is ... so here's a picture
As you can see it needs a bit of work!
